WICCA: MES ARBOREO DEL FRESNO Fresno

According to the Wiccan calendar, begins the month the ash tree.

WICCA: MES ARBOREO DEL FRESNO Fresno

The Fresno (February 18-March 17)

Fresno Features

The purple of the ash is located preferably on the fertile land where there are calcareous, but is versatile and adapts to all types of soils. It is an unrepentant lover of moisture, both of which produced the Earth, such as the environment in which to take root. However, it is able to adapt to periods of drought when their root system has developed, it is then more stoically supported the lack of moisture. Once an ash seed has colonized an area is growing rapidly, developing a powerful and deep taproot which later branched into various sides. He likes to take root at the edge of forests as part of the hedges and likes to settle in coastal forests, but where is better dispersed in the valleys and in the vast grasslands, revives its contribution to the grass of the place. The mountain and wilderness areas are not the ideal place for acclimatization.

Has the peculiarity of producing abundant seed in a cycle, but following that abundance is transmuted into shortage, however it is easily dispersed by wind, being provided with a wing that helps to separate from the parent tree, maturing at the end of the cycle Samos Giam or early, but in both cases remain on the tree until the entry of Ostara (spring), when it appears. This feature is in the interest of several seed-eating birds that get a hearty winter food. It has leaves 3 to 8 inches and its fruits are 2 to 4.5 centimeters hanging in samaras oblong. These measures depend on the range of Fraxinus (ash), to which he belongs.

Plant family is the Oleaceae and among its many examples, I cite the best known: Fraxinus excelsior, which grows in the Land of Peninsular Spain, especially in the north and their populations reach to the Urals, and from Scotland to North African. Vizcaya is called Lizarra or otso Lizarra would come to mean ash lobos.Suele reach 20 and 30 feet to 75 years, age when growth stops. It is distinguished from his brothers also for its black winter buds. Fraxinus angustifolia; more widespread in the southern half of Spain, but comes to the Pyrenees, Portugal and North African .. Only manages to reach the 15-20 meters and is very similar to above, although the better endure drought and winter buds are brown. Its bark has toxic substances, but their tender leaves and new shoots can be eaten in salads Fraxinus ornus, known as flowering ash, or manna ash, although the true manna is extracted from Fraximus rotundifolia, live from the Iberian Peninsula to Turkey weather warmer. Precisa supports abundant sunshine and dry environments. Widely used in gardens for its showy white flowers. Besides these there are other more popular as Fraxinus americana, Fraxinus holotricha, F. Latifolia F. pennsylvanica, F. Velutina all with a typical variant that differs from the other.

Among its unique characteristics of its look at the sexual variety, as there are ash trees with male flowers, female flowers with two or even bisexual. In rural areas, has always been exploited and used, soliendolo cut when it reached 75, time is of its splendor and development. It has been used in basketry, especially as fodder for cattle in both green and dry state. Its wood burns whether you're green as if it is dry. It has strong roots being able to damage the foundations of nearby buildings, but care is taken to remove these constructions of them in the shallow soil. In soil deep rooted not harm or affect the construction

In their use, have benefited people who have used the bark, its leaves and fruit. An infusion of the leaves of ash relieves and prevents arthritis. Its chemical constituents used are mannitol, malic acid, tannin and quercitrin among others and has always been popularly considered to dye preparations, powders or poultices as laxatives and diuretics. Old rural belief claim to cure and remove warts.

Ash: Celtic and Viking symbols

In addition to the above, our concept of the ash is more: There is under the cloak of the sky, tree revered by humanity ash, Romans, Greeks, Basques, North African, Vikings and of course, our intrepid ancestors Celtic simultaneously have admired this entity.

The Fresno, according to our tree and spiritual assessment, is a prolongation of the Earth, which grows and rises. Is the Earth itself that flows and their tips exploit flowers and fruits. Its branches are directed toward the ethereal, straight as a spear and when he touches, from his veins the sap rises, flourishes the top of their height and their branches, leaves spread like stars in all directions. Rooted at the edge of the forest or in some prairie emerald erect a banner, a path to the divine and ethereal. It shows with their unique vertical symmetry between his party and outdoor deck, the balance we need to learn when their roots are not enough moisture to continue its ascent. Its summit, your cup is compressed and slowly begins to languish: Your highest branches beauties abundance of moist decaying stage and then his whole demeanor shows that seeking a new way, the ball, circle, perfection.

For the Celtic tree is our third month and runs from 18 February until 17 March. Is associated with the third consonant of the Ogham, N. Since Nion is the word for Fresno. In tribute to my friends Vikings, so reviled asatrùars spiritual lately, I want to write some thoughts on his vision of the ash: In the Eddas, which are collections of poems of the thirteenth century Iceland, where Snorri Sturluson authors and Saemund the Wise collect various heroic deeds of the Norse oral tradition.

They mentioned the Yggdrassil ash. This name means Ygg steed. Ygg is Odin. Yggdrassil is the world tree that contains all the forces of the cosmos and is the largest and most beautiful of all trees. It has three branches that support the sky and its fruits are the stars. Three immense support and nourish the roots:

1. The first is sinking into the depths of Aesir, the underground world of the gods aces. This root drink from the sacred fountain of Urd, the source of life that gives immortality to the tree and is guarded by three Norns, which in turn govern the destinies of men and the gods themselves: Urd is the oldest and is responsible for weaving the thread of life. Werdandi intertwines and connects the two strands of love and trims Skulte when the hour of death. These spinners of human destiny are what keeps the force of Yggdrassil, watering every day with water and mud from the sacred fountain of Urd. Alongside this spring in countless swimming swans, the gods gather to celebrate their assemblies and deliver justice and from here go up and down to his home across the bridge blue light.
2. In the land of the ice Nifleim, the second root sinks, drinking Hvergelmir source, the source of all waters of the world. Beside her Nidhoggr lives, the dragon, the giant creature that bites the root to dry the cup. The eagle that lives on the cusp of great ash Nidhoggr attacks every day. And Mimir is the source of memory and wisdom in sinking the third root.
3. This is the region of ice giants, predecessors of the human race. Here again Odin tirelessly to refresh his memory and renew their knowledge.

These three roots are immersed in the heart of the Earth, in the three kingdoms underground springs from the trunk in the terrestrial region in Midgard, where men live. The branches ascend to Asgard, the celestial realm of the gods and the higher the wise eagle challenges eternamante Nidhoggr and monitors to prevent the gods of l lookout for the giant. Ratatoskr squirrel up and down continuously talking to the eagle over the dragon and the eagle on. It is in this balance between the root and the top, between the eagle and the dragon, which is the secret of harmony and the implementation of both the ash and man. Are the polarities of thought, the poles of life, sexual poles. Both are complementary and necessary, but give or control over any of them, it means a loss or energy blockade weakens us. The dragon must finally spit his venom on the cup and the poison is transformed into the mead of inspiration, same drink that tasted Odin in his second test initiation.
